All these words might describe Boulder, but you can’t truly grasp this magical town until you visit it. Backed by vaulted, red rock slates, known as the Flatirons, Boulder bumps up against the foothills in one of nature-meets-town’s grandest fashions. Natural surroundings imbue the town, long giving it a reputation as one of the nation’s outdoor sports capitals. Impeccably maintained hiking trails, climbing walls, river rapids appear at every turn.
The brick, pedestrian-only Pearl Street Mall is perfect for a day of boutique shopping and munching at adorable bistros. Local galleries display a range of high-quality finds produced by a large community of local artists. For the essence of Boulder and a latte, head to the Trident Coffee House and Bookstore at the west end of the mall. And on “the hill,” just south of downtown, you’ll find renowned University of Colorado(CU).
