Engelwood Colorado is a result of the mining boom in the mid 1800’s, Englewood was created when a mining camp was established in the Little Dry Creek area of the Platte River. The city of Englewood was established in 1903. Englewood has always been known for it's excellent school system and high-quality lifestyle.
Englewood's largest employer, the Swedish Medical Center is known internationally for its specialized care of spinal cord injuries, head injuries, strokes, neurological disorders and complex orthopedic procedures. People from all over the country have been cared for by this facility.

A milestone in the town's history occurred in 1965, when the city used money from a land sale to buy seven park sites (257 acres), tripling the city's park area. Today, the Parks and Recreation Department maintains over (135 acres) in 17 parks and greenbelts. The Englewood Municipal Golf Course is an 18-hole course with putting and chipping greens, driving range and a full-service clubhouse. Area residents enjoy the Englewood Recreation Center, a 54,000 square foot facility. With an Olympic-size swimming pool, running track, basketball courts, racquetball courts, and exercise rooms, there is something for everyone.
